What Is RSS? And Why You Must Have It


RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication, it allows your users to easily follow your blog and helps in gaining more readers too.

RSS are web feeds that helps readers in keeping track of all the posts published on your blog. Gone are the days when people used to bookmark their favorite sites, RSS is a much systematic therefore easier way to keep oneself updated without having to visit sites individually.

And it is your job to ensure that you provide your readers with RSS subscription, and not merely by placing a RSS button on your homepage but also spread the link to find more subscribers.

What is RSS exactly?

Although it means simple syndication, but there are many who might be aware of the term RSS but don't exactly understand how to leverage this service; specially your readers.

In technical terms, "RSS is an XML-based format for content distribution. Webmasters create an RSS file containing headlines and descriptions of specific information." In simple terms., "RSS is just another web address for your readers that they can use to keep a close tab on your blog. To access these posts RSS reader is required (Google reader, Bloglines, Feed Burner and Feed Demon etc.) which displays content partially or entirely.

In a nutshell, whenever you update your blog, RSS will let your readers know about the latest information that you are providing, all they have to do is open their reader whenever they please and your content will be categorically displayed as unread items.
